Congressman Maxwell Frost Slams DeSantis As Disney Cancels Plans for $1 Billion Development in Central Florida
WASHINGTON D.C — Today, Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost (FL-10) released a statement following Walt Disney Co.’s announcement that it is canceling plans to build a nearly $1 billion campus in the Central Florida community of Lake Nona, a move that would have brought 2,000+ jobs to the Orlando area had it not been for Governor Ron DeSantis’s attacks on the corporation in retaliation for their opposition to the governor’s harmful “Don’t Say Gay” bill.
In a statement, Rep. Frost says:
“Florida is once again suffering because of Governor Ron DeSantis’s inability to lead.
“He’s not only launched a full-scale attack on our people and some of the most vulnerable in our communities, he is now effectively threatening our state’s economy.
“Disney’s project in Lake Nona should have been a win for Florida, a win for our economy, and a win for working people in the Orlando area. This $1 billion development would have employed thousands while positively impacting our tourism industries.
“He’s more interested in running for President than running the state of Florida and Floridians are paying the price of his campaign.”
