Congressman Maxwell Frost Announces $3.8 Million Transportation Grant to Orlando
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Maxwell Alejandro Frost (FL-10) announced a nearly $3.8 million federal grant to MetroPlan Orlando to support and invest in transportation safety initiatives to prevent death and serious injury on Central Florida roadways.
In January, Rep. Frost met with MetroPlan leaders for an important conversation around advancing public transit that will fundamentally change how folks in Central Florida commute and move around the region. This grant will be used by MetroPlan to make our streets safer and enhance Orange County’s transportation system for all who use it.
“Thrilled to announce that Central Florida will receive over $3.7 million federal dollars to do the critical work of improving Central Florida’s roads and streets, while prioritizing the safety of drivers and pedestrians alike,” said Rep. Frost. “There is so much good that can be done with this investment in developing a Vision Zero Safety Action Plan for our community. This is a great step toward creating more pedestrian-friendly streets, expanding bike lanes, and improving the overall safety of our transportation system. I look forward to working with MetroPlan Orlando to put this funding to good use.”
