Congressman Maxwell Frost Announces $1.4M Federal Grant to Help Provide Central Florida Low-Income Families with Early Childcare
Federal Funding from the Department of Health and Human Services Will Help Facilitate Critical Childcare Services for Central Florida Families
ORLANDO, FL – U.S. Representative Maxwell Alejandro Frost (FL-10) announced a $1.4 million grant from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to help fund the Early Head Start (EHS) Program at Community Coordinate Care for Children’s located in Orlando, Florida, which will provide childcare for low-income families across Central Florida.
“Too many Central Florida families are stuck between a rock and a hard place as they struggle to find affordable childcare that allows parents to work to make ends meet,” said Congressman Frost. “Childcare shouldn’t be a privilege just afforded to the wealthy. This $1.4 million grant to Community Coordinated Care for Children will provide financial breathing room for Orlando families and provide early childcare services that they might not have access to in the first place. This grant is a huge investment in Orlando’s children.”
The EHS Program provides essential early childcare for low-income families making less than or at the federal income level. This new federal funding will allow the program to provide comprehensive and continuous services for infants, toddlers, and their families. EHS prepares children, up to the age of five, with school readiness and enables them to become fully qualified adults. This grant will alleviate the financial burden of the cost of early childcare and allow more families access to crucial developmental curriculum.
The funding comes from the HHS Office of the Administration for Children & Families program.
