BREAKING: Congressmen Frost and Soto Score Huge Healthcare Win for Floridians

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Maxwell Alejandro Frost (FL-10) successfully teamed up with Congressman Darren Soto (FL-9) and eight Democratic House members to send a letter to President Joe Biden and Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, calling on the Administration to implement a special enrollment period for Americans directly affected by the elimination of the continuous coverage requirement authorized by pandemic-related federal relief.

When the continuous coverage requirement ends on March 31, over one million Floridians will be at risk of losing their Medicaid coverage. Thanks to the work of Reps. Frost and Soto, a special enrollment period will now give these folks sufficient time to renew their existing policy or transition to marketplace coverage.

“Thanks to the quick work from the Biden Administration, our calls for a special enrollment period have been answered,” said Rep. Frost. “Now over 1 million of our fellow Floridians can breathe a sigh of relief and rest assured they won’t go without the healthcare coverage they deserve.”

In addition to Congressmen Frost and Soto, the letter was signed by Reps. Kathy Castor (FL-14), Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07), Marc Veasey (TX-33), Nanette Diaz Barragán (CA-44), Tony Cárdenas (CA-29), Debbie Dingell (MI-06), Robin Kelly (IL-02), and Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08).
