ORLANDO, FL — On Friday, Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost (FL-10) hosted an hours-long town hall event with Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings where both leaders heard from Central Floridians on arts and culture, and transportation issues facing the local community.

During the event, Congressman Frost presented the Mayor with three federal checks totaling over $1.6 million to the County for critical projects to support the multicultural senior center, provide low-income seniors with air conditioning replacements or system upgrades, and to create two transportation mobility hubs, one at Orange Technical College and the other at Pine Hills Bus Transfer Center, to ensure that people can access multiple types of transportation modes in a central location.

Among many things, Rep. Frost and Mayor Demings discussed the important connection between transit, housing, and job opportunities for working folks across Orange County and Orlando, and the need to tackle these issues holistically. The leaders also discussed what could be done to incentivize studios and producers to bring their projects to Florida and Central Florida specifically, to support film artists and the workers that keep the industry going.

“Thank you to Mayor Demings and the Central Florida community for coming out to our arts, culture, and transportation town hall,” said Rep. Maxwell Frost. “As elected officials, it's always important to hear directly from the folks we represent about the issues top of mind, and to have the opportunity to discuss how we can address what the community’s needs are, head on. I look forward to continuing to partner with the Mayor and Orange County government to keep delivering for our people.”
