ORLANDO, FL—Today, Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost (D-FL) announced that Central Florida is receiving four federal grants from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) totaling $174,500. The NEA has announced more than $110 million in recommended grants in all 50 states, with $2 million funding projects across the state of Florida.

The following Central Florida organizations will receive grants for new projects in the arts:

  • $100,000 for the United Arts of Central Florida to support a grant program for nonprofit organizations and a grant program for individual artists in a four-county service area in Central Florida.

  • $30,000 for the Orlando Science Center to support Science of Sound, a collaborative performance project by the Orlando Science Center and Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra.

  • $29,500 for the University of Central Florida Research Foundation, Inc. to support a series of puppetry-building and interviewing workshops and related activities for incarcerated individuals in Osceola County, Florida.

  • $15,000 for the Dr.Phillips Center of Performing Arts to support the 6th & Jazz program, which highlights musical performances enhanced with dance and educational content.

“As a drummer and artist, funding for the arts has always been a priority of mine, which is why I am proud to announce these four federal grants totaling close to $200,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts that underscore our commitment to fostering artistic innovation and accessibility here in Central Florida,” said Congressman Frost. “From empowering independent artists to collaborative science initiatives, these investments not only nurture creativity but also create valuable opportunities for growth for people who want to pursue a career in the arts.”

This announcement comes just days after Congressman Frost held a town hall with Mayor Demings to emphasize the importance of the arts and our arts economy in Central Florida.
