Congressman Maxwell Frost Secures $13.4 Million for Central Florida Community Projects

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Maxwell Frost announced that federal funding legislation signed into law includes $13.4 million for community projects across Central Florida. This is an addition to the $11.9 million secured by Congressman Frost 2024. These investments strengthen housing, transportation, environmental resilience, and community services throughout the region.

City of Orlando – Coalition for the Homeless Women and Families Homeless Shelter Project ($3,000,000): Expands capacity to shelter women and families experiencing homelessness.

Orange County – IDignity Operational Headquarters ($750,000): Supports the construction of IDignity’s permanent facility to grow its work providing free help to residents, including seniors, returning citizens, and unhoused people in need of identification documents like Social Security cards and U.S. birth certificates.

Orange County – Innovation Center in Pine Hills ($850,000): Assists construction and equipment purchasing for this forthcoming hub for entrepreneurship, job training, and small business support at the Multicultural Center.

LYNX – Bus Shelter Program ($850,000): Adds additional bus shelters among bus routes with a range of installations to improve safety, comfort, and accessibility for transit riders, including seating, overhead shelter, trash receptacle, and overhead lighting.

Orlando Housing Authority – West Oaks Roof Replacement ($1,200,000): Replaces aging roofs to ensure safe, stable housing.

Valencia College – West Campus Building Seven Roof Replacement ($250,000): Upgrades aging campus infrastructure to support student learning.

Orange County – Green PLACE Land Acquisition ($250,000): Purchases property to preserve its sensitive lands and wildlife habitats.

Orlando Housing Authority – Villas at Carver Park Upgrades ($974,000): Renovates elevators and bathrooms for seniors and residents with disabilities to improve safety and accessibility.

Orlando Housing Authority – Griffin Park Improvements ($850,000): Provides for infrastructure for the next chapter of Orlando Housing Authority’s first and oldest public housing community.

Orange County – Aquifer Storage & Injection Feasibility Study ($1,092,000): Strengthens the water supply and increases available clean water in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

City of Orlando – Lake Eola Park Improvements ($850,000): Advances the Lake Eola Master Plan by improving water quality, constructing all-inclusive playgrounds, and making the gateways more accessible.

City of Orlando – New Malibu Stormwater Management Project ($800,000): Reduces neighborhood flooding.
